Şeyh Muhammed Bedevi (also known as Şeyh Muhammed Rittali / Arabi) is, by tradition, a Companion of the Prophet who came to the region with the Islamic army under Ebu Ubeyde b. Cerrah during the caliphate of Umar and was martyred here around 638 CE. His tomb, standing in the middle of an old cemetery on the rise south of Kalleş Hill west of Kilis, is thought to have been built in the second half of the 14th century. The square-planned, four-arched building with a pointed dome contains a wooden sarcophagus draped in green. Evliya Çelebi's Seyahatname mentions him as 'Şeyh Muhammed Arabi and Rittali' resting in a great lodge west of the city, and it is among the most visited tombs in Kilis.
