A poet and bold cavalryman among the Companions, prominent in the Ridda wars and the conquest of Syria. His death is disputed (plague of Amwas, Ajnadayn, or al-Yamama). His tomb is held to adjoin the Abu Ubayda mosque at Deir Alla in the Jordan Valley; lacking a corroborated coordinate the location is left null.
