Born in 1855, the Irish peer Rowland Allanson-Winn (5th Baron Headley) converted to Islam in 1913, taking the name Shaikh Rahmatullah al-Farooq. He became a leading figure of the Woking Muslim Mission, founded the British Muslim Society in 1914, and wrote works introducing Islam, including 'A Western Awakening to Islam' (1914). He died on 22 June 1935 and, per his will, was buried in the Muslim section of Brookwood Cemetery.
