Ahmed Âmiş Efendi of Tirnova was born in 1807 in Tırnova, Bulgaria, and after completing his studies entered the path of Sufism. He became known as a Melami-minded guide belonging to the Kusadaviyye-Ibrahimiyye branch of the Sabaniyye order. Because he served for many years as the tomb-keeper (türbedar) of the Fatih Mosque, he was known by the epithet "Keeper of the Conqueror's Tomb." He guided many scholars and thinkers of his era; Babanzade Ahmed Naim, Ahmet Avni Konuk and Ismail Fenni Ertugrul were among those formed in his company. He died at a very advanced age in 1338/1920 and was buried in the courtyard cemetery of the Fatih Mosque.
