Zenbilli Ali Cemali Efendi, an Ottoman jurist who served as Şeyhülislâm for about 24 years under three sultans; he earned the epithet 'Zenbilli' (basket-bearer) for lowering a basket from his window to collect the public's fatwa questions. He died in 1526 and is buried in the courtyard of his mosque in Zeyrek. (Sources: TDV.)
