Sidi Ahmad ibn Yusuf al-Miliani al-Rashidi (b. c. 836/1435, Qal'a/Beni Rashid near Oran – d. Safar 931/December 1524) was a Berber saint of Shadhili disposition (linked to the Rashidiyya), famed across western Algeria and Morocco for his satirical and prophetic sayings, still popularly quoted. He opposed the Zayyanid dynasty and favoured the Ottoman order in Algeria. He died in Safar 931/December 1524; his mausoleum was built at Miliana, and the adjacent Ottoman-era mosque was erected in 1774 by Bey Muhammad al-Kabir beside his tomb and zawiya. There is a minor dispute over the death year (a tradition of 927/1521 is also given), but the burial place at Miliana is undisputed. He has no standalone TDV entry; French and Arabic Wikipedia and the Algerian cultural-heritage registry were used. (Source: fr/ar.wikipedia "Sidi Ahmed Benyoucef"; patrimoineculturelalgerien.org.)
