The Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II was known as 'Veli' (the Saint) for his piety and closeness to scholars and Sufis. He died in 1512 and was buried in the tomb on the qibla side of the Bayezid Mosque he had built. (Sources: TDV; Wikipedia.)
