Habib Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Husayn al-Habshi (1259/1843 – 1333/1915) was a great Sufi scholar, poet and guide of the Bâ Alawi order, a sada Habib whose lineage reaches the Prophet. His most famous work is the celebrated mawlid Simt al-Durar on the birth of the Prophet. In 1295/1878 he built the Riyad Mosque in Seiyun and beside it founded the Ribat of Seiyun, the first great scholarly ribat of Hadramaut, training students from across the world. He was buried in Seiyun near his mother's grave and a large dome was raised over him. No map pin is placed as no cross-verified building-level coordinate for his shrine could be confirmed.
