Son of Sayyid Fehim Arwasi, born in Arvas in 1871 (AH 1287). He studied at the Arvas and Gevaş madrasas and, after authorization from Sayyid Abdülhakim Arwasi, accepted the post of mufti of Van. While serving as Van's mufti during World War I, he was martyred by Armenian militants in 1916 (AH 1334) while performing ablutions in the village of Mejingir (Yukarı Kaymaz) in Gürpınar.
