Founder and first custodian of Pesantren Nurul Jadid in Paiton, Probolinggo. Born in 1906 in Pamekasan, Madura, he established the pesantren in Karanganyar village with two students and became known for a model of social outreach. Within NU he served as branch head in Kraksaan and deputy chair of PWNU East Java. He died on 26 July 1976 and is buried in the Nurul Jadid family cemetery; his grave is visited by pilgrims.
