Cheikh El Hadj Ibrahim Niass, leader of the Fayda branch of the Tijaniyya, built a vast following across West Africa. He died in London on 26 July 1975; his body was flown to Senegal and buried beside the Great Mosque of Medina Baye in Kaolack, which he had built. His mausoleum adjoins that mosque and is a major pilgrimage site. (Sources: Wikipedia 'Ibrahim Niass'; The Standard, Gambia biography)
