One of the foremost mystic poets of classical Kurdish literature, his real name was Muhammad; born around 1560 in the Bahçesaray (Müküs) district of Van and died around 1640. Known as 'jurist of the birds,' his poetry blends Sufi and folk themes. His tomb is identified about 15 km from the Bahçesaray district center and presented by the Bahçesaray District Governorship. NOTE: the burial site is disputed; a second tradition places the tomb in Dayılar village, Hizan district, Bitlis.
