Born in Edirne, he was a Sufi and poet of the Uşşâkıyye branch of the Halvetiyye order and is regarded as the founder of the “Câhidiyye” sub-branch. For many years he guided followers across the Çanakkale, Biga, Lapseki, Bayramiç and Gelibolu regions. He left a Divan of mystical folk poetry and a treatise titled Kitâbü’n-Nasîha. He died in 1070 (1659-60) at Kilitbahir and was buried in the tomb beside the mosque that bears his name.
