A Mevlevi shaykh descended from Mawlana Jalal al-Din Rumi, he was the first postnishin and shaykh of the Kütahya Mevlevi lodge (Erguniyye Dergah). He was buried in the lodge's cemetery, today the Dönenler Mosque.
