A Horasan dervish buried in Sandıklı, said to have come from Khorasan in the era of Yunus Emre (13th–14th c.) and settled there. Regarded as the patron saint of the Sandıklı chickpea-roasters' guild; his tomb in the courtyard of Emirhisar village mosque is preserved in original form. A Sufi figure of Fizme (Kumru) origin known as 'Tarakçı' (comb-maker) after his trade; trained under Hacı Mustafa Rûmî in Tokat and Çorum, affiliated with the Mustafa Hâki–Mustafa Takî–İhramcızâde İsmail Hakkı line. The founding spiritual guide of the Arwasi lineage, son of Sayyid Qasim al-Baghdadi who migrated to Anatolia after Hulagu's conquest of Baghdad. He founded the village of Arvas (Doğanyayla) in the Bahçesaray (Müküs) district of Van, building a madrasa, lodge, library and mosque, and shaped the spiritual map of the region. His exact death date is unknown (c. 14th-15th century). His grave is in the Arvas village cemetery; by tradition no tomb structure could be built over it and it is visited as a grave/maqam. One of the foremost mystic poets of classical Kurdish literature, his real name was Muhammad; born around 1560 in the Bahçesaray (Müküs) district of Van and died around 1640. Known as 'jurist of the birds,' his poetry blends Sufi and folk themes. His tomb is identified about 15 km from the Bahçesaray district center and presented by the Bahçesaray District Governorship. A disciple (halife) of Emir Sultan of Bursa, traditionally dated to the late 14th–early 15th century and regarded as the spiritual founder of Burhaniye (formerly Kemer). He is said to have overseen the building of the Koca Mosque and endowed a medrese, bathhouse and shops as vakıf. Son of Sayyid Fehim Arwasi, born in Arvas in 1880. He received his ijaza in 1899, taught at the Hatuniyye Madrasa in Adilcevaz, and was appointed mufti of Adilcevaz in 1910. He served with militia forces in World War I and was a founder of the Van Defense of Rights Society. A late-Ottoman and early-Republican scholar and madrasa teacher of the Kumru/Fizme area (1860–1957). He studied at the Kumru medrese and under Mustafa Efendi of Korgan and Hacı Yusuf Efendi of Ünye, founded two madrasas, taught for about forty years and granted ijazah twice. He died in 1957 aged 97. Identified with Sayyid Sultan Ala al-Din, a leading Halveti-Melami sheikh of Tire. Said to have been exiled from Egypt then Istanbul under Mehmed II to Tire, where he died; through pupils such as Molla Çelebi and Alaeddin Arabi he kept the Halveti order influential in Tire. Born in 1867 in the Şekerli quarter of Maraş, regarded as a sayyid descended from Husayn. A Qadiri-Rifai guide and a spiritual leader of the Maraş War of Independence, he later served as chief preacher of the Grand Mosque. He died on 11 June 1937 and was buried in the Şeyhadil cemetery.
