Sayyid Yahya al-Shirvani

Sayyid Jamal al-Din Yahya b. Baha al-Din al-Shirvani, born in Shamakhi, became a disciple of Sadr al-Din al-Khiyawi; after his master's death he moved to Baku, organised the Khalwatiyya, and is regarded as the order's second pir and, in effect, its true founder. He authored Wird al-Sattar, the order's fundamental litany. According to the TDV 'Khalwatiyya' article he died in Baku in 868/1463-64 (the standalone entry also records 870/1466); his mausoleum stands in the middle courtyard of the Shirvanshahs' Palace complex in Baku.
