An Ottoman scholar of Persian origin and a student of Sayyid Sharif al-Jurjani. He was appointed mufti (regarded as the second Ottoman shaykh al-islam) in Edirne in 1430-31 under Murad II and played a key role against the Hurufis during Mehmed II's reign. He died in Edirne; his grave was in front of the mihrab of the Darulhadis Mosque but has not survived.
