The ninth of the Twelve Imams, grandson of Musa al-Kazim (son of Ali al-Rida); the shortest-lived of the Imams. He died in 220/835 and was buried beside his grandfather in the Kadhimiya Shrine. (Sources: TDV; Wikipedia 'Muhammad al-Jawad'.)
