Hacı Murad-ı Veli was a saint among the Horasan dervishes educated by scholars of Turkestan; by tradition born in 1117, he settled in 1187 at Seydiköy in Eldivan district of Çankırı, taught the people, and died in 1207. The village took the name 'Seydi' after him. His tomb lies within the mosque bearing his name and is an important pilgrimage site.
