Yunus Emre
A great Turkish Sufi poet of the 13th-14th centuries, disciple of Tapduk Emre, who expressed divine love in plain Turkish. According to the Velâyetnâme he was born in Sarıköy near Sivrihisar (today's Yunusemre town in Mihalıççık, Eskişehir) and his grave is here; the grave was opened in 1946 during railway works and a monumental tomb was built in 1970. His burial place is disputed across many provinces (Karaman, Aksaray, Bursa, Manisa Kula, Erzurum, Isparta and others); the Mihalıççık grave is among the best documented but is not certain.
