Sayyida Zaynab bint Ali (Zaynab al-Kubra), daughter of Ali and Fatima and granddaughter of the Prophet; she survived Karbala and is renowned for proclaiming the injustice suffered by the Ahl al-Bayt. She is said to have died in 682 CE; her burial place is disputed among Damascus, Cairo and Medina, the most famous shrine being south of Damascus (present structure 1990). Scholars note this grave may belong to a younger namesake. (Sources: TDV 'Zeyneb bint Ali'; Wikipedia.)
