A sheikh of the Norshin branch of the Naqshbandi-Khalidi order; he first attached himself to Sheikh Muhammad al-Kufrawi, who directed him to Abdurrahman al-Taghi, becoming his son-in-law and successor. After al-Taghi's death in 1886 he assumed spiritual leadership. He died in 1317/1899 and, by his will, was buried beside his house in central Bitlis. (Sources: Encyclopedia of Saints; İhya Journal)
