Abu Mansur Muhammad al-Maturidi, founder of the Maturidi school of Sunni theology, also an exegete and jurist. Born in the Maturid quarter of Samarkand. Buried in the Chokardiza cemetery; the original tomb was destroyed in 1940 and rebuilt in 2000. (Sources: TDV; Wikidata Q4273745.)
