Hakim Abu al-Majd Majdud ibn Adam Sanai was a Persian-language poet of the Ghaznavid era and a founding figure of Persian Sufi poetry. His masterwork, the Hadiqat al-Haqiqa, is regarded as the first Persian mystical epic and influenced later poets such as Rumi. He died at Ghazni around 525 AH/1131 CE; his tomb has been a pilgrimage site for centuries (visited by Dara Shukoh and Muhammad Iqbal).
