Known as 'Hujjat al-Islam', one of the most influential scholars and Sufis in Islamic thought, renowned for epoch-making works in jurisprudence, theology, philosophy and Sufism (above all the Ihya' Ulum al-Din). Born in Tabaran in Tus and died there in 505/1111. His grave's exact location is DISPUTED: a memorial (maqam) stone stands beside the Haruniyeh Dome in Tus, the true grave lost after Mongol destruction. The coordinate is that of the Haruniyeh memorial. (Sources: TDV; Wikipedia 'Haruniyeh Dome'.)
