A great scholar and Khalwati-Haddadi Sufi from South Sulawesi (Gowa) who studied in Mecca, Yemen and Damascus, led the Banten resistance, and was exiled by the Dutch to Ceylon and then the Cape of South Africa, where he is regarded as a founder of Islam.
