Syekh Muhammad Jamil Tungkar (d. 1890) was a noted Minangkabau teacher and a foremost student of Syekh Muhammad Thahir Barulak. After receiving his teacher's ijazah he devoted himself to teaching religion. His grave lies beside his teacher's in the mihrab of Masjid Taqwa Barulak and is a site of visitation.
