Ottoman historian, pioneering physician and poet. Accused of Bektashi affiliation due to his membership in the Beşiktaş Scientific Society, he was exiled to Tire (İzmir) in 1826 and died there about two months later. He authored the Tarih-i Şanizade and Mir'atü'l-ebdan, the first modern Turkish anatomy book. His grave was lost when its cemetery was removed in 1916; his tombstone was later found and moved to the Tire Museum.
