One of Yemen's most influential mujtahid scholars, known for his works in tafsir (Fath al-Qadir), hadith (Nayl al-Awtar) and usul, and for championing ijtihad against taqlid. He served as judge and mufti in Sanaa. He died in 1250/1834 in Sanaa and is buried in the Khuzayma Cemetery; no pin is given as ≥2 numeric coordinate sources for the grave could not be verified.
