Muhammad Bello, son and successor of Usman dan Fodio, was the second Sultan-Caliph of Sokoto as well as a scholar and author. Born in 1781, he died on 25 October 1837 (1253 AH). At his own insistence he was buried at Wurno, the ribat (frontier fort) he had founded. (Sources: Wikipedia 'Muhammed Bello' & 'Wurno'; Britannica 'Muhammad Bello')
