A Tamil Qadiriyya Sufi mystic, poet and ascetic, born (1792) into a wealthy Rowther family at Kunangudi near Thondi (Ramanathapuram district), who renounced his wealth to become an ascetic. He composed about 100 devotional and philosophical poems (~5,000 lines) blending Islamic mysticism with Tamil siddhar and kirtan traditions, and settled in Chennai.
