Abu Isa Muhammad ibn Isa al-Tirmidhi, compiler of al-Jami al-Sahih (Sunan al-Tirmidhi) and al-Shama'il, one of the Six Books masters. Distinct from al-Hakim al-Tirmidhi. He died at Bugh near Termez.
