A 13th-14th-century Suhrawardi Sufi said to have come from Turkestan, traditionally credited as the first Muslim missionary of Kashmir (d. 726/1327). He is said to have converted the Ladakhi Buddhist ruler Rinchan (who took the name Sadr-ud-Din) and to have founded the first khanqah and mosque in Kashmir (Wikipedia, "Bulbul Shah"; srinagarheritage.in). His tomb stands at the Bulbul Lankar khanqah on the bank of the Jhelum in Srinagar.
