Molla Gürâni (Ahmad al-Kurani), a leading Ottoman scholar who studied hadith under Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani in Cairo and in 1443 became tutor to the future Mehmed II. Appointed mufti of Istanbul in 1480, he died in 1488 and was buried in the hazire of his mosque in the Fındıkzade/Aksaray area. (Sources: TDV; Wikipedia.)
