KH Dalhar (1870-1959) was born at the Watucongol Darussalam pesantren in Muntilan, Magelang, which he continued to lead; he is remembered as a saintly scholar regarded across the Nusantara as a reference in learning, Sufism and struggle, and he took part in resistance to colonial rule. His grave in the Gunungpring cemetery of Muntilan is heavily visited by pilgrims.
