Ka'b al-Ahbar was a prominent successor (tabi'i) of Yemeni origin, renowned for his mastery of the sciences of the People of the Book, who embraced Islam during the caliphate of Umar. He holds an important place in early Islamic scholarship for his transmissions of Isra'iliyyat and exegetical material.
