İmam Abdullah is reported to be a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), from the line of Hz. Cafer-i Tayyar. In 638 CE (17 AH) he served in the Islamic army under commander İyâz bin Ganem during the conquest of Hasankeyf from Byzantine rule and was martyred during the siege.
