His real name was İğnecizâde Sheikh Safiyüddîn Mahmûd Halvetî, a successor of Sheikh Zakariyya al-Khalwati who became sheikh of his lodge after him. He was among the Halvetî saints raised in Amasya. His tomb stands within the marketplace in the Kocacık neighborhood, holding two cenotaphs of İğneci Baba and his son.
