Abdülganî Efendi is an Ottoman scholar originally from the town of Gerede in Bolu. He is mentioned among the Naqshbandi sheikhs and died in Bursa in 1586 CE. In his pursuit of knowledge he was trained by receiving lessons from the renowned scholars of his time, foremost among them Çivizâde Sheikh Muhammed Efendi. Throughout his scholarly life he undertook many important duties: he taught at the Emir Sultan madrasa in Bursa, and at the Hagia Sophia, Sahn-ı Semân, and Süleymâniye madrasas in Istanbul. In addition to his professorship, he held the judgeships (kadılık) of Istanbul, Egypt, and Damascus, and rose as far as the office of the military judge (kazasker) of Anatolia. Alongside his scholarly accumulation, he was also known for his poetry. It is stated that he left behind various scholarly works; among these may be counted Hâşiye alâ Tefsîr-i Beydâvî, Hâşiye alâ Şerh-i Tecrîd, Terceme-i Fedâil-i Şam, and Risâle fî Biyâni Ahvâl-i Eyyâm. His son is the poet Muhammed Nâdirî, known by the name Ganîzâde, and he is a figure recognized in the history of Ottoman literature. After his death, Abdülganî Efendi was buried in the Zeynîler cemetery in Bursa.
