The maqam attributed to the prophet Yunus (Jonah) stood in Mosul on Tell Nabi Yunus overlooking ancient Nineveh, visited by Muslims and Christians alike. The structure was blown up by ISIS on 24 July 2014 (confirmed by satellite); the demolition exposed a Neo-Assyrian palace. Reconstruction has been under way since 2019.
