Second regent (bupati) of Semarang who renounced his office to become a disciple of Sunan Kalijaga and a wali (c. 1461-1547). During the Demak Sultanate he spread Islam across the Bayat/Tembayat region and Central Java, founding an early pesantren on Mount Jabalkat; Javanese tradition links him to the Wali Songo circle. His tomb complex on Jabalkat was monumentally rebuilt in 1620 by Sultan Agung of Mataram with Majapahit-style gateways (gapura).
