Sayyida Ruqayya was the young daughter of Husayn, the martyr of Karbala; according to tradition she died as a small child in 680-681 CE in Damascus, where she had been brought as a captive after Karbala. Her shrine in the old city near the Umayyad Mosque is an important visited center. (Sources: TDV 'Sükeyne bint Hüseyin'; Wikidata Q3399936.)
