A travelling mystic from Tabriz, regarded as the spiritual companion and guide of Mawlana Rumi. His meeting with Mawlana in Konya (1244) is among the most discussed encounters in Sufi history. The place and date of his death are disputed in the sources; his shrine in Konya is a place of visitation.
