According to Iranica the Chor Chinor ('Four plane trees', landscaped by the Emir of Bukhara in 1813) shrine at Urgut is dedicated to Khoja Abu Talib Sarmast, a Samanid missionary said to have been killed by the 'unbelievers' for propagating Islam in the area.
Differing Scholarly Views
That Abu Talib Sarmast was a Samanid-era missionary who was martyred is a local tradition. Sources: Iranica URGUT (Savchenko) reports that the shrine is 'dedicated' to him and relays the martyrdom narrative, but does not confirm the grave itself, a date of death or his identity from any other source; there is no DİA entry. The atlas records the attribution in the source's own words and passes no judgement.
