A leading Shadhiliyya Sufi of Abyssinian origin; disciple and son-in-law of al-Mursi, he taught in Alexandria. His death year is given variously as 707/1307 to 732/1331. His tomb lies in the Maydan al-Masajid area of Alexandria, beside the shrine of his master al-Mursi.
