A Sufi and Ash'ari scholar born in Desouk in the Nile Delta (633/1255), founder of the Burhaniyya (Desuqiyya) order. One of the four great saints of Egypt. His tomb, with that of his brother Sharaf al-Din Musa, lies inside the great mosque of Desouk, a major pilgrimage site.
