Kiai Marogan (real name Masagus Haji Abdul Hamid bin Mahmud) was one of the most renowned scholars and Sufis of 19th-century Palembang. A shaykh of the Sammaniyya order, he received the path from his parents, who had studied under Shaykh Muhammad Aqib and Abd al-Samad al-Palimbani.
