A merchant-scholar and Sufi said to have led a party of seven from Hadramawt in Yemen that came ashore at Beruwala around 1024 CE. He was buried on the Ketchimalai headland, regarded as the point where Sri Lanka's Muslim (Moor) community first settled on the island.
