velfecr.
By the dawn
veleyâlin `aşr.
And [by] ten nights
veşşef`i velvetr.
And [by] the even [number] and the odd
velleyli iẕâ yesr.
And [by] the night when it passes,
hel fî ẕâlike ḳasemül liẕî ḥicr.
Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?
elem tera keyfe fe`ale rabbüke bi`âd.
Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -
irame ẕâti-l`imâd.
[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,
elletî lem yuḫlaḳ miŝlühâ fi-lbilâd.
The likes of whom had never been created in the land?
veŝemûde-lleẕîne câbu-ṣṣaḫra bilvâd.
And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
vefir`avne ẕi-l'evtâd.
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -
elleẕîne ṭagav fi-lbilâd.
[All of] whom oppressed within the lands
feekŝerû fîhe-lfesâd.
And increased therein the corruption.
feṣabbe `aleyhim rabbüke sevṭa `aẕâb.
So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
inne rabbeke lebilmirṣâd.
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
feemme-l'insânü iẕâ me-btelâhü rabbühû feekramehû vene``amehû feyeḳûlü rabbî ekramen.
And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."
veemmâ iẕâ me-btelâhü feḳadera `aleyhi rizḳahû feyeḳûlü rabbî ehânen.
But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."
kellâ bel lâ tükrimûne-lyetîm.
No! But you do not honor the orphan
velâ teḥâḍḍûne `alâ ṭa`âmi-lmiskîn.
And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
vete'külûne-ttürâŝe eklel lemmâ.
And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,
vetüḥibbûne-lmâle ḥubben cemmâ.
And you love wealth with immense love.
kellâ iẕâ dükketi-l'arḍu dekken dekkâ.
No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -
vecâe rabbüke velmelekü ṣaffen ṣaffâ.
And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,
vecîe yevmeiẕim bicehenneme yevmeiẕiy yeteẕekkeru-l'insânü veennâ lehü-ẕẕikrâ.
And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?
yeḳûlü yâ leytenî ḳaddemtü liḥayâtî.
He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."
feyevmeiẕil lâ yü`aẕẕibü `aẕâbehû eḥad.
So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,
velâ yûŝiḳu veŝâḳahû eḥad.
And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].
yâ eyyetühe-nnefsü-lmuṭmeinneh.
[To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,
irci`î ilâ rabbiki râḍiyetem merḍiyyeh.
Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],
fedḫulî fî `ibâdî.
And enter among My [righteous] servants
vedḫulî cennetî.
And enter My Paradise."
