Leaving the scholarly path, he received his licence from Fidancı Şeyh Mehmed Efendi and, upon his father's death in 1660, became sheikh of the lodge at Bülbülderesi. For a time he also served as head of the Aziz Mahmud Hüdâyî lodge. He left works including Mecâlis, a Ta'bîr-nâme, a Dîvân-ı İlâhiyât and a commentary on the Qasîda al-Burda; on his death he was buried beside his father in the courtyard cemetery of the Şeyh Devâtî Mosque.
